For those coming to Maui, you must register for the Safe Travels online program at https://travel.hawaii.gov/ and create an account. 

Pre-travel testing enables travelers to avoid a mandatory 14-day quarantine if they are tested within 72 hours before their flight to Hawaii departs with an FDA approved nucleic acid amplifications test (NAAT) and can show proof of the negative test result.

As Maui prepares to welcome visitors back on October 15, 2020 with a new pre-travel testing protocol, several businesses are reopening or adjusting their hours to accommodate more visitors and guests. 

The following is an update on the Montage Kapalua Bay, Kapalua Golf and Tennis, and area restaurants that have made information available.

SPA MONTAGE

The Spa Montage will open with reduced hours from 7am - 5pm daily.  This applies to Club Members, Montage Residents, and Montage Resort

Hawaii begins its long-awaited Pre-Travel Testing Program on October 15, 2020.  This will allow those with a valid negative test result to fly to Hawaii and be exempt from the current 14-day quarantine for trans-pacific arrivals.  

• As an alternative to quarantine, a traveler must produce evidence of a negative COVID-19 test no earlier than 72-hours prior to their flight arrival in Hawai‘i
• All travelers are required to have temperature checked and complete a health & travel questionnaire
• All travelers must either pre-test or go into 14-day quarantine upon arrival to the state
• FDA-approved NAAT tests, processed by a CLIA-certified laboratory are the only types of coronavirus tests currently approved.  This may change as new testing

On a pristine sandy beach cove on Keonenui Bay, Kahana Sunset is one of West Maui’s best kept secrets. This property attracts owners and guests looking for a smaller resort experience.  On 4.5 oceanfront acres, there are 80 units total, both one and two-bedroom floor plans.  The property has been a favorite spot for returning vacation guests who book Kahana Sunset year after year.  Split A/C systems are permitted, and many units have been upgraded with air-conditioning.  Some units have covered parking, and there are both single level and townhouse style floor plans.

In response to COVID-19, the State of Hawaii implemented a 14-day quarantine for travelers which remains in effect until October 1, 2020.

As of September 1, 2020, all travelers will be required to complete the Safe Travels Application prior to travel to Hawaii on https://travel.hawaii.gov/.  The form collects health and travel information, with the goal of making travel safer and help with quarantine enforcement and contact tracing.  Please note: all travelers must have an email address--those without one will need to create one to comply with quarantine requirements.

This year, as more of us work from home and shelter in place, people are starting to rethink what they want in a home and where they want to live.  The focus now is on homes with spacious yards, pools, and flexible spaces that can be used for offices, gyms and classrooms.  There is a shift away from busier cities and high-density areas to more rural settings.

As more Americans are reevaluating the four walls they live in, they are also starting to make changes in where they live.  With telecommuting, many are realizing that they can work anywhere, and living and working on Maui is becoming a reality instead of a dream.  Maui is known for its natural beauty, relaxed way of life, and the aloha spirit of its residents.
