A taste of Maui: Maui Ku'ia Estate Chocolate
Chocolate Martini Anyone?
While we are sheltering in place, I've been looking for ways to bring the spirit of the Hawaiian Islands to you, wherever you may be. Today I'd like to feature Maui's Ku'ia Estate Chocolate. The company was founded by philanthropists with the incredible goal of giving 100% of the net profits to local charities. So essentially, your chocolate addiction will positively reverberate through the community--who doesn't love that?
Maui Ku'ia Estate Chocolates recommend using their Dark Chocolate Baker's Drops because they melt so quickly on the stove.
Of course, you can always use our chocolate bars or pieces instead, and you can experiment with the flavors by trying Peppermint, Maui Coffee, or Blood Orange. Here is the conversion:
- 2 oz of chocolate drops =about 10 5g chocolate pieces
- 2 oz of chocolate drops = 2 25g bars
LIVING ALOHA: About Maui Ku'ia Estate Chocolates
In the Hawaiian language, kuleana can be defined as accepting responsibility with understanding and intent. It is a value or a way of thinking that gives one a sense of ownership and accountability or carrying out certain responsibilities, and it becomes one’s privilege to do so.
Maui Ku‘ia Estate Chocolate was founded with two core values that support sustainable practices--it is their kuleana to malama (care for) and cultivate the land, grow single-origin cacao and craft some of the world's finest chocolates—right here in Lahaina town in an environmentally friendly chocolate factory.
Their core values of kuleana and malama shine through in their support and care for their community, with 100% of their net profits donated to Maui charities and non-profit community organizations.
And they also embody the spirit of aloha. Recently, to sweeten the lives during this challenging time, the company offered a curated selection of Shelter in Place Chocolates at no charge. The response was so overwhelming that they sold out in 48 hours and are in the process of shipping over 1000 orders.
So while you shelter in place, I hope you will have a chocolate martini, and toast to your health and this local company that supports the Maui Community. Cheers!
