Alaeloa is one of Maui's hidden gems. Behind the gates, off the Lower Honoapiilani Road, this small community is nestled along the Napili coastline. With just 42 residences, a mix of free-standing cottages and duplexes, on 13 acres, this oceanfront enclave is reminiscent of the Maui of my childhood...the cottages are a nod to the Plantation Style of architecture, and the seaside pool is surrounded by a mango grove. When I met the owners of Alaeloa 30 and saw it for the first time, my eye was immediately drawn to the view. The large lanai offers a vantage point that stretches down the coastline to Kapalua, with surf breaks like Little Makaha and Hole in the Head firing in the distance. Of course, being January, what caught my attention was the whales, which were breaching just a short distance from the lanai.

With so few units, there are usually just a handful of sales each year at Alaeloa and some years there have been no sales. 2021 brought with it a frenzy of activity to Maui's real estate market, and Alaeloa was no exception.
